Big news! We just launched Untamed Eats, our new YouTube channel!

Hi friend! Well, we did a thing… Specifically, we started a new YouTube channel: Untamed Eats.

Untamed Eats’ mission is to inspire people to connect to ecology through food. Each episode will feature a new wild-foraged food from our bioregion (many of which can be found elsewhere in the world as well).

First, we’ll walk you through the Untamed Eats 4-point safe ID framework so you can confidently identify the plant or fungi and get to learn more about it. Once we’ve nailed the ID together and gone through sustainable harvesting tips, we’ll take you into our kitchen to create a wildly delicious recipe.

Throughout the year, we want to take you on a fun, educational journey into the wild world where you’ll discover so many incredible seasonal foods growing all around you — even if you live in an urban environment! If you’re like us, foraging opens your eyes to ecology in a way that nothing else can while intimately connecting you to the majesty of it all. And when you understand and love something deeply, you want to see it thrive.

Now we’ll ask you two favors:

  1. Please check out our first video: Eastern red cedar juniper berries: ID + recipe! then consider sharing it, dropping a rating, or commenting to let us know what you think? While you’re there, please subscribe to the Untamed Eats channel.
  2. Sign up for the Untamed Eats newsletter. Yes, you’ll automatically be entered to win future prizes and giveaways for our favorite foraging and kitchen products. But we’ll also be able to stay connected and let you know as soon as we release a new video or have an important Untamed Eats announcement.

As always, thank you for your support! We look forward to walking with you on this next leg of our wild food journey.

Gratefully,

-Aaron and Susan

Rose panna cotta recipe

Rose flower panna cotta made from the organically grown 'Cardinal de Richelieu' roses in our front yard. The latest episode of Untamed Eats is out! In less than four minutes, you can find out how to safely turn into food. In case you've never heard of it, pokeweed is a common native weed that grow prolifically in the eastern United States, especially where we live in the southeast. This plant definitely comes with a safety warning, since it's poisonous when consumed raw. However, in our video, we show you how to easily and safely prepare it for cooking. Given how common, abundant, and tasty...
